I have 13 generations in my BREWER line, starting in the 1600's in Cornwall, England. I have connections to two Brewer lines because my great times six grandfather married a Brewer from a different family.

The Brewer family lived in and around the shipping town of Padstow, which is nestled on the banks of the Camel River estuary. Some of my ancestors were involved in shipping and this is an area that I intend to research for further details. My great x 2 grandfather used to work the ferry across the Camel River, from Padstow to Rock. A difficult task back in the mid 1800's, as the ferry was a mere rowing boat.

Four of my great x 2 grandfather's children immigrated to Australia, including my great grandfather. They settled in and around the Beechworth area, of Victoria. My great grandfather, William Brewer, started an orchard at Wooragee. His eldest brother, John, owned a dairy at Wooragee, whilst their brother, Richard owned a vegetable farm at Leneva, near Wodonga. Their sister, Hannah Jane, settled with her second husband, on a farm at Yackandandah.
